Mexico City kidnapping victim reunited with family after 27 years

A woman has been reunited with her biological family 27 years after being kidnapped from a park in Mexico City. Juana Ramirez was abducted at the age of three from Bosque de Chapultepec Park in October 1995.

Following the kidnapping, she was taken to Guatemala, where her identity was changed to ‘Rocio’ and her birth date was altered. Her captors raised her as their own daughter, though neighbors often suggested she was adopted. After escaping the household at age 17, she built an independent life and eventually married.

The family was reunited through social media after Juana shared a childhood photograph online. The photo was spotted by Maria Jose, one of Juana’s biological sisters, leading to the discovery of her true identity and her biological parents, Lorena Ramirez and her husband.
