Mexico City leads Latin American net salary rankings

Mexico City leads Latin America in average monthly net salaries, according to the Deutsche Bank “World Price Mapping 2026” report. The city averages $1,059 after taxes, ranking first in the region and 57th globally among 69 cities studied. Other high-ranking Latin American cities include São Paulo ($853), Buenos Aires ($842), Santiago ($798), and Bogotá ($718).

Over the last decade, Bogotá has seen the highest cumulative growth in the region at 74%, followed by Mexico City at 52.4%. Conversely, cities like Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Rio de Janeiro have seen declines in dollar-denominated wages due to exchange rate fluctuations.

Regarding legislative compensation, data from Directorio Legislativo indicates that Colombian legislators hold the highest regional salaries, with gross monthly pay of $17,654. Mexican senators follow in second place with a gross monthly salary of $11,068, while Mexican federal deputies earn $6,408. These figures are subject to significant volatility based on local currency performance against the US dollar.
