Mexico City man detained after dog dies in locked van
A 48‑year‑old man was detained by Mexico City authorities after neighbours reported two dogs locked inside a white van on Joaquín Herrera street in the Centro neighbourhood of Cuauhtémoc. The vehicle had been left stationary for several hours in high temperatures.
Rescue efforts showed one Bull Terrier received water and a blanket and was stabilized, while the second dog, an American Bully, was found unconscious and later confirmed dead despite attempts at reviving it. Neighbours broke the window to gain access; police also tried to open the van. The owner was arrested, read his rights and placed before the public prosecutor for possible animal‑cruelty charges.
