Mexico City Metro Line 2 stations upgraded with 2.2 billion‑peso renovation

City head Clara Brugada delivered a comprehensive renovation of four Line 2 stations—Tasqueña, General Anaya, Ermita and Portales—benefiting more than 100 000 daily riders. The project cost 2.2 billion pesos, with 1.5 billion provided by the federal Fondo Nacional de Infraestructura (FONADIN) and 700 million contributed by the Mexico City government. About two‑thirds of the budget was allocated to major maintenance of tracks, trains and electromechanical systems, allowing the recovery of seven train sets and shortening passenger wait times. The works also included floor, wall and ceiling upgrades, new security and video‑surveillance equipment, and the reopening of the Chabacano station on 23 June.

During the construction, authorities acknowledged temporary inconveniences for commuters. Users reported longer travel times, additional costs for taxis or ride‑hailing, and a few injuries near the work zones. The mobility secretary noted that lessons from these disruptions will inform the upcoming Line 3 renovation to minimize future impacts.
