Mexico City Metro experiences service disruptions on Lines 9 and A

The Mexico City Metro (STC) is facing significant service disruptions across two lines due to separate technical and environmental incidents.

Line 9 is operating with partial service following a fire on Tuesday night near the Velódromo-Ciudad Deportiva intersection. Trains are currently only running between Tacubaya and Chabacano in both directions. The section from Chabacano to Pantitlán remains closed, affecting stations including Jamaica, Mixiuhca, Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva, Puebla, and Pantitlán. Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have been caused by trash burning, which spread to the tracks and potentially damaged high-voltage and fiber optic cabling. The Red de Transporte de Pasajeros (RTP) is providing bus support for the affected segment.

Line A is also experiencing fragmented service due to a broken catenary element. Service is currently split into two segments: Pantitlán to Canal de San Juan, and Santa Marta to La Paz. The stretch between Canal de San Juan and Santa Marta is closed, with the stations Tepalcates, Guelatao, Peñón Viejo, and Acatitla remaining shut. RTP units are assisting passengers in the disconnected zone while repair crews work to restore full operation.
