Mexico City Metro implements new regulations for commercial vendors

The Mexico City Metro (STC) has implemented a new regulation for commercial spaces located across 11 of its 12 lines. Under the updated rules for the installation, operation, and security of commercial premises, vendors are now required to wear authorized uniforms and identification.

Vendors have until October 18 to comply with the uniform mandate. The required attire must display the specific administrative permit number (PATR), the name of the person or entity in charge, the metro line, the station, and the assigned local number. This measure aims to help security personnel and passengers distinguish authorized workers from others.

Additional regulations include: - Prohibitions on shouting offers or selling products outside of assigned stalls. - Bans on selling alcohol, pornographic material, or illegal substances. - Restrictions against using commercial spaces as warehouses or selling unauthorized product types. - Requirements for waste management and the installation of trash receptacles.

Permits will now be granted for a maximum of 10 years, with the possibility of two extensions. Violations, such as unauthorized subletting or transferring permits, will result in fines ranging from approximately 5,865 to 23,462 pesos and the potential revocation of operating permits.
