Mexico City Metro Line 12 to undergo partial closure for maintenance

The Mexico City Metro (STC) has announced a partial closure of Line 12 from September 12 to September 16, 2026, to perform essential maintenance and corrective works on its fixed installations.

During this five-day period, train service will be limited to the section between Mixcoac and San Andrés Tomatlán in both directions. The segment between Tláhuac and Lomas Estrella will remain closed, affecting nine stations: Tláhuac, Tlaltenco, Zapotitlán, Nopalera, Olivos, Tezonco, Periférico Oriente, Calle 11, and Lomas Estrella.

The primary objective of the intervention is to replace the 13-23 track switch located between Periférico Oriente and Calle 11. This component reached the end of its useful life following intensive use as a return point during previous Line 12 rehabilitation works. The project also includes replacing 140 wooden sleepers with concrete structures, placing 300 cubic meters of ballast, and rectifying 600 linear meters of track profile.

To mitigate the impact on commuters, the Red de Transporte de Pasajeros (RTP) will deploy support units to provide alternative transportation. Normal service is expected to resume at 5:00 AM on September 17.
