Mexico City Metro Line 2 to close ten stations for weekend repairs

The Mexico City Metro announced that the southern portion of Line 2, from Tasqueña to San Antonio Abad, will be closed from 20:00 hrs on Saturday, 23 May until service resumes at 05:00 hrs on Monday, 25 May. Ten stations – Tasqueña, General Anaya, Ermita, Portales, Nativitas, Villa de Cortés, Xola, Viaducto, Chabacano and San Antonio Abad – will not receive train service; trains will operate only between Pino Suárez and Cuatro Caminos.

To mitigate disruption, the city’s RTP (public‑transport bus) will run free shuttle service between Pino Suárez and Tasqueña throughout the weekend. Riders were advised to plan extra travel time and consider alternative routes, including other metro lines and Metrobús services. The closures are part of an ongoing rehabilitation program aimed at improving safety and infrastructure on the line’s surface section.

Full service on Line 2 is expected to be restored on Monday morning, though further rehabilitation work will continue in stages over the coming weeks.
