Mexico City Metro Line 2 to reopen on June 8, announced by transport chief Clara Brugada

Mexico City’s Line 2 of the metro system is scheduled to resume service on Tuesday, 8 June, after a period of closure for extensive renovation. The reopening was announced by the city’s transport authority head, Clara Brugada.

Four stations on the line will remain closed pending final works, even as most of the line has been cleared for passenger traffic. The temporary support from the public‑transport workers’ union (RTP) has ended, allowing the scheduled restart just days before the upcoming World Cup events in the capital.

The restoration is part of broader infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving service reliability and capacity for millions of daily commuters in Mexico City.
