Mexico City Metro reports high ridership and debuts redesigned Universidad station

On June 10, 2026 the Mexico City Metro recorded high passenger traffic on six lines—1, 3, 7, 12, A and B—leading to longer wait times and prompting staff to assist with crowd flow. The system announced measures such as sending empty trains to busy stations and accelerating train dispatches.

Meanwhile, the Universidad station on Line 3 received a complete visual overhaul. Mexican artist Jorge Rosano Gamboa created new graphics that reference the natural landscape of the Pedregal, astronomical symbols and historic motifs linked to the UNAM campus. The redesign aims to reinforce the cultural identity of the university gateway and improve the commuter experience.
