Mexico City Migration Station revalidated as health promoting environment
The Mexico City Migration Station, located in the Iztapalapa borough, has been revalidated as a Health Promoting Environment. It is the only migration station in the country to receive this designation under the Strategy for Validation and Revalidation of Shelters for Populations in the Context of Human Mobility.
The certification focuses on providing prevention, health promotion, and comprehensive care for migrants, emphasizing dignity and respect. Nadine Gasman Zylbermann, the capital's Secretary of Public Health, stated that the right to health applies to everyone regardless of origin, nationality, or migratory status.
Since the strategy began in 2021, nine shelters across various Mexico City boroughs have been incorporated into the program, including facilities in Gustavo A. Madero, Iztapalapa, Venustiano Carranza, Cuauhtémoc, and Álvaro Obregón. The initiative involves coordinated efforts between local health services, municipal authorities, and migration officials to ensure equitable and culturally pertinent care.
