Mexico City mother and daughter linked to process over alleged Del Valle home seizure

A judge in Mexico City ordered that Virginia N and her daughter Diana N be linked to a criminal process and placed in preventive detention at the Santa Martha Acatitla women’s prison for an alleged illegal takeover of a home in the Del Valle neighborhood, Benito Juárez. The disputed property, located at number 18 Cerrada de Matías Romero, was reported on 21 July 2026 after the owner, Daneira Oviedo, received security alerts and saw strangers inside. Authorities seized the house on 25 July and the seizure was legally ratified on 28 July. During the hearing, the defendants offered no evidence of ownership and maintained their innocence, while the victim’s lawyer, Luis Jiménez Benítez, noted the judge set a two‑month deadline for complementary investigation. The case is part of a broader probe into roughly 30 alleged property seizures in Del Valle this year.
