Mexico City Museum Launches ‘Sinfonía de Colores’ Wixárika Art Exhibition

On 23 June 2026 the Museo de la Ciudad de México, part of the city’s Secretaría de Cultura, opened the “Sinfonía de Colores” exhibition in partnership with the Fundación Hermes Music. The show features wind, percussion and string instruments transformed into canvases that display Wixárika cosmology and artistry, highlighting over 20 years of the foundation’s work with the indigenous community.

Museum director José Manuel Rodríguez Ramírez and Culture Secretary Ana Francis López Bayghen praised the opportunity to showcase Wixárika culture. Museum director Lizbeth Ramírez Chávez thanked the artisan masters for their contributions. Hermes Music founder Juan Perches and artisan Marco Carrillo spoke about the project’s role in preserving and sharing their heritage with new generations.
