Mexico City penthouse massacre leaves six-year-old boy as sole survivor

A six-year-old boy is the sole survivor of a massacre at a luxury penthouse in Atizapán de Zaragoza, near Mexico City. The child escaped death by hiding under a bed and was found unharmed by police.

The victims include Jonathan Meléndez, a keyboardist for the rock band Camilo Séptimo, his pregnant wife Ana Paula Barragán, their three-year-old daughter Sofi, and the family's nanny. Investigators report that the assailant first shot the nanny in the back and forced Barragán to muzzle the family dog to prevent noise. The mother and daughter were subsequently tied up and executed with gunshot wounds to the head. When Meléndez arrived home, he attempted to fight the intruder but was killed with a silenced weapon.

Police have arrested 51-year-old Argentine national Diego Sebastián Rosen Ferlini, identified as the primary suspect, along with Gerardo “N,” who is under investigation for participation. Rosen Ferlini was a business partner of Meléndez in a short-term rental venture. Authorities suggest the motive may involve a debt of approximately R$ 92,000 owed by Rosen Ferlini to the musician.
