Mexico City police deploy to block CNTE teachers' march toward stadium

Hundreds of Mexico City Secretariat of Public Security (SSC) anti‑riot officers were deployed on Division del Norte and Calzada de Tlalpan to prevent a CNTE teachers’ demonstration from reaching the Ciudad de México stadium. The forces set up barriers, used signal‑jamming equipment, drones and mounted police, citing the protest’s demand to repeal the 2007 ISSSTE law reform.

The SSC also kept a security presence on the Mexico‑Cuernavaca highway, accompanied by representatives of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH). Officials, including Arturo Medina, called for any protests to remain peaceful and emphasized dialogue and the protection of public order while monitoring the situation for potential arrivals of additional demonstrators.
