Mexico City safety program suspends 36 venues and closes 11 in May
During May 2026 the Mexico City government, through the "La Noche es de Todos" program, carried out 11 joint operations across seven boroughs. Authorities conducted 75 inspections of nighttime commercial establishments, resulting in 36 activity suspensions, 11 closures, 28 verification visits and six arrests for seal violations. The actions targeted venues in Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Cuauhtémoc, Miguel Hidalgo, Tlalpan, Venustiano Carranza and Xochimilco, with the aim of enforcing civil‑protection, land‑use and alcohol‑sale regulations and improving public safety.
The program is overseen by the city’s Secretary of Government and the Chief of Government, Clara Brugada Molina, and is intended to maintain continuous oversight of nightlife venues to prevent incidents and ensure safer spaces for residents and visitors.
