Mexico City theater features historical monologue and Broadway musical

Mexico City's theater scene features two notable productions. The Fénix Novohispano company presented “La Roja, Carlota Emperatriz de México” at the Auditorio Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada. The monologue, starring Nallely Acevedo and accompanied by mezzo-soprano Gerardina Martínez Félix, explores the complex life of Empress Carlota during the 19th century.

Additionally, the Broadway musicalLa Novicia Rebelde” (The Sound of Music) opened at the Centro Cultural Teatro 1. Produced by Alejandro Gou and featuring Mexican actress Bianca Marroquín, the production follows the story of Maria and the von Trapp family. The run is scheduled to remain in the repertoire until August 16.
