Mexico City to host traditional bread and culinary festivals

Mexico City will host two significant gastronomic festivals celebrating traditional baked goods. The first event, the First Mexican Sweet Bread Festival, is scheduled for September 11–13 at the Monumento a la Revolución explanade. Organized by the National Chamber of the Baking, Pastry and Similar Industry of Mexico (Canainppa), the festival aims to promote traditional sweet bread as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the capital. Activities include a Sweet Bread Museum, a historical exhibition featuring nearly 50 varieties of bread considered extinct, and live demonstrations by specialists.

Additionally, the 2026 Coffee, Chocolate, and Pan de Muerto Festival is set for October 24–25. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the event will move to a new venue at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, CDMX campus. The festival will feature over 100 offerings, including regional Mexican coffees, artisanal cacao, and various traditional breads, alongside workshops, live music, and a parade of catrinas.
