Mexico City traffic jams and Metro delays on July 18

On Saturday, July 18, vehicle flow in Mexico City fell about 35% as simultaneous blockades at the Insurgentes and Reforma intersections and near the Zócalo created queues up to four kilometres long, adding more than an hour to travel times. The Secretariat of Citizen Security reported the congestion and authorities deployed personnel to redirect traffic, while the Secretariat of Mobility warned that the main north‑south artery and Avenida Chapultepec remained saturated.

The Metro also suffered a technical fault in the signaling system of Line 9, causing delays of up to 18 minutes between Pantitlán and Tacubaya. Lines 1, 2 and 3 continued normal service, and officials urged commuters to use alternative routes such as the Metrobús and to monitor official mobility apps for real‑time updates.
