Ezeiza Airport to reduce international flights due to runway works
Ezeiza International Airport will face significant flight reductions from Sunday, October 25, until November 11, due to a $110 million modernization project. The works involve rehabilitating the secondary runway and its intersection with the main runway, a project managed by Aeropuertos Argentina.
Approximately half of the 30 airlines operating at the airport will temporarily cancel services. Other carriers are adjusting schedules, rerouting flights, or utilizing smaller aircraft with technical stops for refueling. The restrictions will particularly impact long-distance international flights to Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States, as large wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 may be unable to operate under the limited conditions.
While there were discussions regarding the possibility of allowing large aircraft to use Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, no such arrangement has been finalized. Airlines with single-aisle aircraft are expected to maintain more regular operations at Ezeiza, though some may still adjust passenger volumes and weight to ensure continuity.
