Mexico City woman arrested for Chihuahua kidnapping and extortion
A 30-year-old woman was arrested in the Iztapalapa borough of Mexico City after allegedly kidnapping a small brown Chihuahua to extort its owners. The incident occurred in the Santa Martha Acatitla neighborhood.
According to authorities, the woman snatched the pet from a couple and demanded money for its return. Because the victims did not have enough cash, they reportedly provided three gold rings as a ransom.
Officers from the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) intervened after the couple sought help from patrolling police. The woman was intercepted nearby, and the gold rings were recovered. The dog was returned to its owners, and the suspect was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry to determine her legal status.
