Mexico City’s Estadio Ciudad de México starts dismantling after 2026 World Cup
The Estadio Ciudad de México, known during the tournament as Estadio Banorte, has begun removing all FIFA‑installed infrastructure following Mexico’s elimination in the round of 16. Cranes and specialist crews are taking down the tournament’s branding, temporary structures, signage and advertising, preparing the venue to host Liga MX matches again. The stadium will be officially handed back to FIFA in the coming days before the league’s Apertura 2026 kickoff.
Meanwhile, Argentine journalist Bruno Farano returned to Kansas City for the World Cup quarter‑finals and noted how the city has become a familiar, low‑key base for the press. He praised the city’s calm pace, easy navigation and hospitality, contrasting it with the busier host cities of Miami, Dallas and Atlanta. The experience highlights the logistical advantages of quieter World Cup venues for media crews.
