Global environmental initiatives focus on reforestation and forest management

Various regional environmental initiatives are focusing on reforestation and forest management. In Veracruz, Mexico, the National Reforestation Day saw the planting of 383,505 plants across 1,756 hectares, part of the ‘Pulmones Verdes’ strategy.

In Lautaro, Chile, authorities are working to restore Isabel Riquelme Park with native species following a storm that downed over 180 exotic trees. Similarly, the Guardianes de la Sierra collective in Mexico planted over 1,000 native specimens in the Cañada del Lobo.

In Argentina, Godoy Cruz will host the National Pre-Congress of Arboriculture and Urban Forests to discuss climate regulation and urban biodiversity. Meanwhile, in Spain, the Fundació Pau Costa is calling for increased forest management in the Balearic Islands to mitigate extreme wildfire risks, suggesting that management areas should be doubled to improve landscape resilience.
