Mexico confirms INAPAM cards stay valid without use and launches biometric CURP registration for seniors

The Instituto Nacional de las Personas Adultas Mayores (INAPAM) clarified that its senior discount card is never cancelled or suspended for lack of use and has no expiration date. The agency emphasized that "no existe ninguna disposición que establezca la cancelación, suspensión o baja de la tarjeta por falta de uso," and all card designs issued to date remain equally valid across the country.

Separately, the National Population Registry (RENAPO) announced that seniors holding an INAPAM card can now request a biometric CURP identification. Appointments must be booked online and are available at RENAPO’s central office in Mexico City and at selected sites in Michoacán, Veracruz and Zacatecas. The process, which takes about 15 minutes, captures facial images, fingerprints and iris scans after the citizen’s explicit consent.

Both measures aim to improve access to benefits for Mexico’s older population.
