Mexico coordinates 2027 budget amid Yucatán infrastructure needs

The Mexican federal government and the state of Yucatán are coordinating on the 2027 federal budget integration. Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena met with Bertha Gómez Castro, Subsecretary of Expenditures at the Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP), to discuss strategic projects and budgetary requirements.

Díaz Mena presented the Metropolitan Welfare Plan, a priority initiative requiring an investment of 4.49 billion pesos over the next three years to address infrastructure and metropolitan development. Discussions also covered public health improvements, including hospital equipment and medicine supply.

Simultaneously, the 2027 economic package presents significant fiscal challenges for the federal administration. Analysts and financial institutions are monitoring the need to reduce the fiscal deficit while maintaining economic growth. Private sector estimates, such as those from BNP Paribas, suggest public sector financial requirements could reach 4.3 percent of GDP in 2027, potentially exceeding official projections. Concerns remain regarding the impact of fiscal adjustments on public works and the management of sovereign debt and support for Pemex.
