Mexico Customs Agency officials face corruption allegations

Allegations of corruption and conflicts of interest have surfaced within the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM). Reports indicate that officials may be demanding improper payments from suppliers and taxpayers to expedite administrative procedures and release payments.

Specific scrutiny is being directed at Darío Eugenio Reyes Villagómez, the Director General of Modernization, Equipment, and Customs Infrastructure. Investigations highlight his previous role as a legal representative for Planet Solutions, S.A. de C.V., a company that participated in major technology contracts for Mexico City’s C5 command center and the Digital Agency for Public Innovation (ADIP).

Additionally, Arturo Jeshván Alcántara Villanueva, the Director General of Customs Electronic Data Processing, is linked to these connections. He previously served in the C5 ecosystem and was reportedly involved in a 551 million peso contract awarded to Umami Ingeniería Especializada for X-ray equipment maintenance. These findings raise concerns regarding the integrity of strategic positions within the federal customs administration.
