Culiacán operation kills Los Chapitos leader “El Texas” and seizes weapons
On July 7‑8 2026 Mexican federal and state forces carried out a joint operation in the Infonavit Humaya residential tower in Culiacán, Sinaloa. Soldiers from the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, together with the state Secretariat of Public Security, were attacked by armed occupants. In repelling the assault, they killed Cristhian Guadalupe “N”, alias “El Texas”, identified by officials as the plaza boss of the Los Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
The Secretary of Security and Protection Citizens, Omar García Harfuch, reported the capture of four suspects and the seizure of long‑guns, grenades, ammunition, narcotics, tactical equipment, radios and two vehicles. State security chief Sinuhé Téllez López said the death of “El Texas” should help reduce homicide rates and other high‑impact crimes in Culiacán.
The raid is part of an intensified security campaign against Los Chapitos, whose internal war with rival cartel factions has heightened violence in Sinaloa since September 2024. Recent operations have also targeted other high‑ranking operatives such as “El Güero Pink” and “El Gabito”.
