Mexico Deputy María Antonieta Pérez Reyes Advocates Media Reform in Ciudad Juárez
María Antonieta Pérez Reyes, a deputy from the ruling Morena party, addressed more than 500 residents at a neighborhood assembly in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.
She promoted a proposed amendment to the Federal Telecommunications and Broadcasting Law aimed at strengthening audience rights, ensuring access to accurate information, and increasing media accountability to combat longstanding disinformation campaigns she said were driven by opposition groups and private‑interest media.
Pérez Reyes noted that the Congress of the Union is currently reviewing the changes and urged citizens to consult official sources and verify information before sharing, emphasizing that an informed public is essential for democracy and the Fourth Transformation project.
