Mexico disappearance crisis: Groups seek UN extraordinary mechanism

Advocates highlight a critical impunity rate of 99 percent and argue that the current situation exceeds the domestic capacity of the Mexican state to manage.
The proposed UN mechanism aims to provide international oversight and support for search efforts, forensic identification, and access to justice. Civil society groups have urged member states to engage in constructive dialogue with Mexican authorities to ensure the process is viewed as a technical cooperation opportunity rather than a political reproach.
