Mexico claims gold as Olvera and Celaya triumph at Copa México de Clavados

Mexico secured its first gold medal at the Copa México de Clavados 2026 when the pair of Osmar Olvera and Juan Celaya won the 3‑metre synchronized springboard final in Zapopan, scoring 408.39 points and outpacing Germany (silver, 362.46) and Colombia (bronze, 346.29). The competition, held at the Centro Acuático Metropolitano, also saw Mexican duos dominate the women's 10‑metre platform synchro, with Gabriela Agúndez and Alejandra Estudillo taking silver (288.42 points) and Suri Cueva with Adriana Torres earning bronze (284.64). A mixed‑team event produced a Mexican silver medal behind China. In the men's individual preliminaries, Juan Manuel Celaya Hernández placed second, ensuring a spot in the final. "Estamos felices por competir en casa y por el resultado. Es una competencia muy pareja. Cerramos la última competencia del año con una medalla," said Gabriela Agúndez. The event served as a key preparation step ahead of the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games.
