Mexico doubles cruise passenger fees at popular ports

Mexico has implemented a phased tax increase for foreign cruise passengers visiting its popular ports. As of August 1, the fee per person has doubled from $5 to $10.

The charge applies to several major cruise destinations, including Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, and Costa Maya. The fee is collected by cruise lines or their shipping agents.

This current increase is part of a broader plan to incrementally raise the fee over the next two years, with the total cost eventually expected to reach $21 per person.
