Mexico remittances grow 3.1% to $36.3 billion in early 2026
Mexico's remittance inflows grew by 3.1% during the first seven months of 2026, totaling $36.349 billion, according to data from the Banco de México. This increase comes despite a 1.6% decline in the total number of remittance operations, which fell to approximately 89 million. The growth in total value was driven by a 4.8% rise in the average amount sent per person, which increased from $390 to $408 during this period.
In July 2026 alone, the country received $5.571 billion, representing a 3% year-on-year increase. The vast majority of these funds, 99.1%, were delivered via electronic transfers.
Regional data shows that Quintana Roo experienced a significant 12.6% growth in remittances during the first half of 2026, capturing $202.5 million. While this represents a steady upward trend for the state, its overall share of national remittances remains low compared to states like Michoacán, Guanajuato, and Jalisco.
