Mexico-Ecuador World Cup clash faces fan disturbance and broadcast plans

On July 1 (Japan time) the North America‑Central America World Cup round‑of‑16 opens with Mexico hosting Ecuador at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The match will be shown in Japan on NHK General and NHK BSP4K, with live streaming and replay on DAZN.

Ahead of the game the Ecuadorian Football Federation lodged a formal protest after dozens of Mexican supporters gathered outside the team’s hotel, playing drums, trumpets, fireworks and chants that disrupted the players’ rest. The federation said the behavior “is far from the fair‑play, equity and solidarity principles that the World Cup should embody” and urged authorities to ensure the safety of its players, coaches and fans.
