Peru and Honduras advance 2027 national budget proposals

Several Latin American nations are finalizing their 2027 public budgets. In Peru, Minister of Economy and Finance Elmer Cuba presented a budget proposal exceeding S/ 266,506 million, representing a 3.5% increase from 2026. The plan prioritizes education (S/ 49 billion), health (S/ 32 billion), and security (S/ 15 billion). Additionally, S/ 2,489 million is earmarked specifically to mitigate the El Niño phenomenon. Prime Minister Luis Galarreta noted the budget aims to address citizen insecurity and social gaps.

Honduras is also preparing its 2027 General Budget, with Finance Minister Emilio Hércules announcing that the proposal will be submitted to the National Congress on September 14. The government anticipates a moderate increase in spending while maintaining a fiscal deficit of approximately 0.1%. Priority sectors include education, health, security, and defense.

In Bolivia, the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance has appointed three new vice ministers to oversee the formulation of the 2027 General State Budget, focusing on public investment and fiscal stability.
