Mexico Education Secretary faces legislative questioning
During a hearing before the Education Commission of the LXV Legislature, Secretary of Education Armando Delgadillo Ruvalcaba faced questioning regarding several systemic issues in the educational sector.
Legislators raised concerns regarding the shortage of psychologists in schools, PISA test results, teacher working conditions, and unpaid wages. Other critical topics included the assignment of teaching positions, the transfer of state teachers to the federal level, and allegations of sexual abuse within educational institutions.
A significant portion of the session focused on the regulation of mobile phone use in schools. Lawmakers requested detailed protocols to ensure that upcoming restrictions, set to take effect on November 3, serve as educational tools rather than mere disciplinary measures. Discussions also touched upon the impact of digital media and social networks on the behavior of children and adolescents.
