Mexico emergency services respond to weather and holiday incidents

Emergency services in Mexico reported significant activity during recent patriotic celebrations and inclement weather.

In Ciudad Juárez, Civil Protection reported 57 services attended between September 16 and 17. Heavy winds and rain caused several incidents, including six flooded homes, six fallen trees, and four reports of downed cables or poles. A notable tragedy occurred in the Rancho Anapra neighborhood, where a cement wall collapsed due to strong winds, killing an 18-year-old and injuring a woman.

In Mexico City, the Heroic Firefighters Corps responded to 167 emergencies across 16 boroughs during the 216th Anniversary of the Grito de Independencia. The most frequent incidents were 44 LP gas leaks, followed by 33 fires. Other responses included the removal of 12 fallen trees, six short circuits, and several vehicular accidents involving rollovers and collisions.
