Mexico evaluates design of new Buenavista‑Pachuca passenger train

Mexico’s Federal Agency for Integrated Train and Public Transportation (ATTRAPI) inspected a full‑scale model of the upcoming Buenavista‑Pachuca high‑speed passenger train. Director Andrés Lajous Loaeza, together with representatives from Chinese manufacturer CRRC ZELC and local equipment partners, examined cabin ergonomics, seat finishes, handrails, luggage and bicycle spaces, and areas for passengers with disabilities. The evaluation also covered exterior features such as surveillance cameras, digital screens and an on‑board public‑address system.

The train will consist of 15 electric multiple‑unit (EMU) sets, each 102 m long and capable of carrying 893 passengers. The first unit is scheduled to arrive from China this month, with full service expected to begin in 2027. After completing the technical review, ATTRAPI will open the model to the public via its social‑media channels, allowing citizens to view the interior layout before the line connects Mexico City, the State of Mexico and Pachuca.
