Mexico expands Bienestar aid with women’s pension in Michoacán and auto‑employment program in State of Mexico

In Michoacán, the federal Secretariat of Welfare announced that 146,158 women ages 60‑64 are receiving the Bienestar Women’s Pension, a bimonthly cash benefit of 3,100 pesos. The program is presented as recognition of women’s caregiving contributions and will transition beneficiaries to the regular senior pension at age 65.

The State of Mexico opened registration for the 2026 Apoyo al Autoempleo para el Bienestar, a social‑development scheme that provides financial support to unemployed or underemployed adults aged 18‑64 who live in poverty. Registration is open online from 6‑12 July and in person from 6‑10 July, requiring official ID, proof of residence and documentation of project experience, with special provisions for people with disabilities or repatriated migrants.
