Mexico expands community programs to strengthen women's leadership and combat violence

In Ciudad Juárez, the Municipal Institute for Women (IMM) continues weekly "Tejedoras de la Patria" sessions, a strategy promoted by the Mexican government to build community leadership among women. The program distributes a women's rights booklet, fosters dialogue, and connects participants with government services, aiming to create more egalitarian and violence‑free neighborhoods.

In Zapotlán el Grande, Jalisco, the state Secretariat of Equality and local officials will sign a pact to install a Centro Libre de Violencia. The center will provide integrated psychological, legal and emotional assistance to women, support economic autonomy, and promote leadership and cultural change. It will become the 24th such center in the state, expanding the network of safe spaces for victims of gender‑based violence.
