Mexico expands digital vehicle and driver documentation services
Authorities in Mexico are expanding digital services for vehicle documentation to streamline administrative processes and reduce costs for citizens. In Morelos, over 417,000 drivers have already adopted the digital circulation card, which can be managed online through the State Digital Transformation Agency (ATDEM).
Samuel Rivera Muciño, head of ATDEM, stated that this modernization effort, directed by Governor Margarita González Saravia, has saved citizens more than 585 million pesos by eliminating the need for intermediaries and physical queues. Officials urge the public to use only official government platforms to avoid fraud.
Similarly, in Mexico City, the permanent driver's license can be processed digitally via the App CDMX and platforms managed by SEMOVI and the Secretariat of Administration and Finance. To use this service, applicants must have an active Llave CDMX account, updated biometric data, and no serious driving sanctions. The digital document is synchronized with the institutional mobile wallet and holds official validity for driving throughout the national territory.
