Mexico expands free high school enrollment and scholarship access

Mexico's Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) has announced new opportunities for students to enroll in high school programs, including online and in-person options. The initiative aims to support youth who have dropped out or were unable to secure a placement in traditional schools.

Key programs include Prepa en Línea-SEP, which offers free online studies that can be completed in approximately two years, and the Bachillerato Nacional Margarita Maza, which operates through 186 physical campuses. Both programs provide official certification and allow students to apply for the Benito Juárez Scholarship, provided they meet the necessary requirements. Students under 25 are specifically eligible for this scholarship within the online modality.

In Sinaloa, the Secretariat of Public Education and Culture is expanding access through alternative sites in Mazatlán, specifically in Pradera Dorada and at the Arturo Cundapí Secondary School. These local sites offer afternoon shifts to accommodate students and are expected to have dedicated facilities, including sports areas and an auditorium, by March.
