Mexico expands health coverage for police and women's support centers

In Puebla, the state government partnered with IMSS‑Bienestar to provide free medical care—including consultations, laboratory tests, medications and surgeries—to more than 4,000 members of the Police Auxiliary and their families. The initiative, announced by Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier and IMSS‑Bienestar director Hipólito Osorio Serrano, is part of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s broader wellbeing program.

The Secretariat of Women, together with the Guerrero state government, equipped 32 LIBRE (Libertad, Igualdad, Bienestar, Redes y Emancipación) centers with furniture and technology, allocating 34,921,455 pesos for their operation. This expansion raises the state's coverage to 36.4 % of municipalities and contributes to a national target of one center per municipality, which has already served about half a million women across Mexico.
