Mexico expands pension rights for parents and tightens income caps for widows

Mexico's Supreme Court ruled that parents who depended financially on a deceased worker can receive up to 90% of the IMSS death pension under Law 73, replacing the previous 20% share. The decision applies when the worker left no spouse, concubine, or children with rights to the pension, and establishes a precedent for similar cases.

Separately, Mexico's Treasury (Hacienda) announced new income thresholds that will reduce the minimum widow pensions. Beneficiaries who earn additional income above the set limits will lose the supplemental payment that previously ensured a minimum pension level, potentially lowering their benefits.
