Mexico expands support for migrant women and strengthens LIBRE center network

The Secretariat of Women, in coordination with UN Women Mexico and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conducted technical workshops in Tijuana, Baja California, training 40 public officials and civil‑society representatives on gender‑based violence prevention and case management for migrant women, adolescents and girls. The sessions are part of the national “Mujeres Migrantes, Frontera a Frontera” strategy and will be replicated in Mexicali and San Quintín, under the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Separately, over 1,000 coordinators of the national LIBRE Centers met in Mexico City, with participation from Guerrero’s secretariat and state governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda. The gathering, chaired by Viridiana Lorelei Hernández Rivera, reaffirmed the goal of extending the LIBRE network so every municipality has a center, and emphasized community leadership, violence prevention and women’s economic autonomy.
