Mexico expands technological ties with China and Spain

Mexico is expanding its international technological partnerships through new agreements with China and Spain.

In a meeting of the Mexico-China Permanent Binational Commission on Science and Technology, officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in artificial intelligence, supercomputing, robotics, and electromobility. The agreement aims to foster collaboration between educational institutions and technology companies. This move comes as China remains a significant trade partner for Mexico, accounting for 17.3 percent of Mexican imports.

Separately, Mexico and Spain have signed a memorandum to strengthen bilateral ties in artificial intelligence, supercomputing, connectivity, and cybersecurity. The framework includes cooperation on data centers, public digitalization, digital identity, and the use of digital technologies for managing natural disasters and climate change. The agreement establishes a plan of action involving joint programs, information exchange, and mutual visits between the two nations.
