Mexico's Tarjeta Violeta boosts women’s businesses and health in Baja California and Guerrero

The first Expo Emprende Violeta in Baja California gathered 26 women who hold the Tarjeta Violeta, allowing them to display and sell products ranging from sewing and baking to piñatas and sublimation. Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda said the card combines financial aid with training in crafts and trades to improve families’ wellbeing, and 27 productive projects and 20 Casa Fuerte grants were awarded at the event.

In Guerrero, Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda reported that more than 43,000 women have benefited from Tarjeta Violeta. The state increased women’s safe‑space centers by 46%, invested about 35 million pesos in facilities, and launched campaigns against gender violence and child marriage. Health actions included over 165,000 Pap tests, 73,000 mammograms and extensive HPV screening to detect cervical and breast cancer early, alongside expanded services for indigenous women.
