Mexico extends border commerce decree until 2030
The Mexican federal government has extended the border decree, which provides tax benefits to border businesses, until December 31, 2030. This extension, announced via the Official Gazette of the Federation, ensures that commercial benefits remain in place ahead of high-demand seasons such as Halloween, Day of the Dead, and Christmas.
Under the renewed decree, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy will maintain a zero percent tariff rate on 1,147 tariff fractions. Additionally, 193 items will be subject to a 5 percent rate, while others involve annual quotas or specific regulations for used vehicles. The extension also includes the automatic renewal of existing Border Company Registrations, removing the need for businesses to undergo additional administrative processes to maintain their status.
