Oaxaca authorities arrest 10 ASAEO members in extortion crackdown

Mexican federal and state authorities conducted a coordinated operation in Oaxaca, executing 21 simultaneous search warrants as part of the National Strategy against Extortion. The operation, involving the Navy (Semar), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the Oaxaca State Prosecutor's Office, resulted in the arrest of ten individuals.

The detainees are identified as leaders and members of the Alianza de Sindicatos y Asociaciones del Estado de Oaxaca (ASAEO). Investigations by the Federal Government's Security Cabinet have linked these individuals to a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel operating within the state. The suspects face allegations including extortion, land invasion, drug trafficking, and vehicle theft.

During the raids, which targeted locations in the Oaxaca metropolitan area such as Pueblo Nuevo, Viguera, San Pablo Etla, and Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán, security forces seized an arsenal consisting of four long guns, two short guns, and various types of ammunition.
