Mexico falls six places in World Economic Forum tourism ranking

Mexico has dropped six places in the 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) released by the World Economic Forum. The country now ranks 41st out of 110 economies analyzed in the study, which was conducted in collaboration with Zurich Insurance Group.

While the country's overall score saw a slight improvement of 0.9% compared to the previous two years, its ranking has declined. Compared to 2019 levels, Mexico has fallen seven positions, despite a 1.5% increase in its total score.

Despite the drop in ranking, the report identifies Mexico as one of the top ten emerging tourism economies globally, alongside nations such as China, India, Brazil, and Thailand. The study noted Mexico's strengths in natural and cultural resources, as well as price competitiveness. In 2025, Mexico recorded 98.2 million visitors.
