Estado de México officials advance regional development and legislative reforms

Mexican federal and state authorities are advancing several key initiatives in the State of Mexico. Governor Delfina Gómez and federal Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez recently met with municipal leaders from ten municipalities to review progress on the Integral Plan for the Eastern Zone. This strategy, supported by President Claudia Sheinbaum, targets historical deficits in infrastructure, mobility, health, water, and education across the region.

In legislative developments, the State of Mexico Congress is analyzing a proposal from Governor Gómez to establish 'Transparencia Mexiquense.' This new decentralized body under the Secretariat of the Comptroller would replace the Infoem, aiming to streamline operations and reduce costs while maintaining technical autonomy for transparency and data protection services.

Additionally, the legislature is considering measures to increase penalties for false reports to prevent the misuse of legal mechanisms. In Temoaya, the Permanent Deputation approved initiatives to formalize the donation of three educational properties to ensure the continued operation of local schools, including a technical baccalaureate and primary and secondary institutions.
